We are delighted to announce that Graham Hilton will be this year's recipient of the ECRU Lifetime Achievement Award which he will receive at their annual dinner. The citation reads...

Graham arrived in Norwich in September 1966 and started his playing career with Norwich RFC in November 1967 after recovering from a damaged ankle ligament caused in a skiing accident.
He played for the club’s 1st XV or 2nd XV from 1968 to 1980 and then played for the club’s 3rd, 4th and veteran’s teams until 1983 when a back injury forced him to end his playing career.
He became the Secretary for the Norfolk County Colts team in the early 1980s, a post which he held for over 15 years until age group re-arrangements meant that the county no longer had an Under 19s team.
He has served as the club’s County Representative for over 15 years and was elected as the Norfolk RFU President for the 2007/08 season.
However his most notable contribution has been as the club’s groundsman. Whilst still playing he joined the club’s grounds committee in 1971 as an adviser because of his expertise as an agricultural researcher.  At that time the club employed people to cut the grass, mark out the pitches and undertake weed control. As those people retired the grounds committee took on the tasks themselves although this largely meant that Graham did them. For the last 18 years Graham has been the club’s sole volunteer groundsman undertaking all the tasks himself which he still does today at the age of 75.
Members of the club were delighted when he agreed to become its President for the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons in recognition of the value of his immense contribution.

The club is delighted and very proud that this award goes to such a deserving person. Many congratulations Graham.
