DEATH OF DAVID 'CHARLIE' FAULKNER
It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce the death of former Norwich 1st XV prop, David 'Charlie' Faulkner last Monday aged just 71. Sincere condolences to Charlie's family and friends from all at Norwich Rugby Club. The funeral details will be announced in due course.
There is an obituary by Mark Lusher posted on the club Facebook page which will also be posted in the club newsletter this Friday, 7th September. POP UP CHARITY SHOP IN NEED OF OUR SUPPORT
Those who attended last season's annual dinner will recall that we supported a very worthwhile charity, Action for Children.
Holly Canham, the Charity Fundraiser has advised us that they have had a pop up shop selling high end clothing from the likes of House of Fraser, in the Castle Mall during August at heavily discounted prices, some real bargains to be found. The duration of the pop up shop has been extended for September thanks to the generosity of the Castle Mall shopping centre.
Holly is wanting to promote its existence so that we support them and shop there, and is asking for anyone that can volunteer 4 hours to help out, to get in touch.

NORWICH RUGBY CLUB GO GREEN - NOTICE TO CLUB MEMBERS AND GUESTS
A decision was recently made at committee that we would stop using polystyrene trays, cups and plastic cutlery for food and drink to reduce our waste and be more 'green'. It may be a drop in the ocean, so to speak, but these items would only go to landfill.
You can help by returning any cups plates or cutlery to the kitchen for washing please, or if you see some that a thoughtless person has abandoned, please take those items back. It's your club!
Furthermore, polystyrene cups are an abomination that taint the drink and make tea taste like plastic and eating with plastic cutlery is very unpleasant and uncivilised (according to the webmaster) so this is a win-win scenario as long as people return the items to the kitchen. Please do your bit.

You may recall the awesome 300 mile cycle ride last season organised by Norwich Rugby Club's Mark Loveday and friends and supported by many other clubs and cyclists. It raised a huge amount of money in support of worth charities in Norfolk. One of those beneficiaries was Special Olympics Norfolk. The funds raised made a huge difference to the members of the Special Olymics team and it was very emotional seeing them at the club to welcome the riders home. Katie Loveday also organised a quiz night last season specifically in support of that charity. Katie is organising another one on Friday 12th October. Details on the attached flyer.
