THE 7's FESTIVAL
From Matt Cole-Wilkin, Tournament Director Norwich 7's Festival
Tickets for the Norwich 7s Fest are flying out and the party looks to be getting bigger by the day. With many of our team already committed to camping, our night time shenanigans on both the night before and the night of the tourney promise to be full of merriment.
Booked in as headliners for the music are the Hot Crumbs, a fantastic three-piece from Norwich with a set list of party classics and a genuinely exceptional sound. They will certainly see you through the latter part of the evening while some other fantastic acts get you warmed up throughout the day.
Blueprints for the outside bar are in place for you all to get adequate hydration throughout the day, one major feature of which will be Tuilagi! Tuilagi Gin; the magical creation of Freddie Tuliagi and Bro's will be our exclusive supplier of Gin and Rum for the day and with the promise of a sunny day, it's suspected that G&T's will be in high demand! Make sure you get along to try out the spirit of the Samoan international.
Our food and trader village is coming together nicely with a great range of meals for a delicious feed available on the day. With the likes of Churros and Chorizo, Phat Kao, and many more TBA... Not to mention Ronldo's Ice cream to satisfy that sweet tooth...
The next few weeks will see many more developments as we close in on Festival day and the treats we are laying on for you all will be the talk of the County - make sure you get your tickets booked now to avoid missing out!

NORWICH ANNOUNCE NEW HEAD COACH
As Norwich Rugby Club return to training, we are pleased to announce the appointment of new Head Coach Ben Scully. Ben replaces Lee Parry who has taken up employment with the RFU after a successful few years with the club, that saw them promoted to London 1 North at the end of the 2019/20 season.
Director of Rugby David Everitt said “Ben is a Level 3 coach with several seasons coaching at London 1 North and has worked for the RFU in Essex. He started his Coaching journey at Bury St Edmunds working with their Academy before moving on to Sudbury for three seasons, joining Colchester last season
His coaching style and ethos is very much in line with that of Lee Parry and I am sure that given the opportunity he will prove every bit as successful for us."
Scully said “ I am very excited to be joining a club that is ambitious with their plans over the next few seasons and a coaching and playing squad that are willing to be challenged on the training pitch. This will fit well with my playing and coaching philosophy. I love being a part of teams that are exciting with ball in hand. In particular I love the 'broken field' elements of the game, and want the team to get really excited on turnover ball and the transition from defence to attack. “
He added “Having coached both Sudbury and more recently Colchester, I know London 1 North is a tough and attritional league, but I believe that upskilling the players to have the confidence to move the ball with pace and accuracy under pressure can unlock defences and show the opposition some difficult pictures.“
Ben’s previous experiences also include an internship with Eddie Jones and the England Mens XV during the 2016 season, during which time he learnt a huge amount not only about coaching, but how to create an elite learning environment. He has held previous roles as Head of Skill Development at St Josephs College, Ipswich and Second in Charge of Rugby at Ipswich School as well as his current role as Mens XV Head Coach of Norway Rugby.
