CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Having experienced so much disruption to our rugby over the past twenty-one months or so, it's such a shame that
the first half of our return season had to come to an end in the way it did. It was lovely to see so many of our members from across all sections of the club not only being able to resume playing the sport they love, but doing so with relish. Let's all hope that the latest wave of Covid infections turns out to have a less significant impact on our lives than the previous waves and that when the time comes for us to get back out on a rugby pitch after the break, we are not prevented from doing so.
In the lead up to Christmas, I wanted to express my thanks to those who have contributed to our club over the past twelve months. Firstly, may I say a huge thank you to those wonderful local businesses who have continued to provide financial support despite the difficulties imposed on us by the pandemic. It is heart-warming to know that each and every one of you has been there for us when you were genuinely needed most.
Secondly, thanks to all of you who, each week, represent the club honourably, whether as a player, a coach, a physio, a team manager, a parent or a ball-boy/girl. Without you we wouldn’t have a club, so let’s dig deep and make sure that we rekindle that wonderful club spirit when we return in 2022.
Finally, I would also like to say a huge thank you to the Board of Trustees, which is led by club chairman, Stuart Burrell. There have been challenges in so many areas, however Stuart and his team have worked incredibly hard to deal with each one as it arises - efficiently and effectively. We are always on the lookout for volunteers, so if there are any members out there who would like to become involved in helping manage the club, please don't hesitate to get in touch - you will receive a very warm welcome!
I really do hope that you all get to celebrate Christmas with your families in the way it was intended and I wish you all a happy, healthy and peaceful 2022.
All the best,
The Club is keen to hear from any members who may have access to spare accommodation that they might wish to rent out to senior players commencing early January. Please contact Stuart Burrell on 07880 507536 or Mike Srokowski on 07950 307496 for further information. Thanks.
On 25th Norwich hosted a Sportsman's Supper with former Bath and England winger David Trick as the guest speaker.
A splendid evening was had by all and some of the players and support staff popped in for a drink after training. Money was raised and split evenly between the two registered charities, Norwich Rugby club and The Wooden Spoon. The superb meal was prepared by Ian McCarten, the owner and head chef of The Last (wine bar and restaurant) in St Georges Street Norwich, our favourite restaurant.
Thank you to all that attended to support the event. Some random photos of the evening are available on our gallery page here
As always, the website will only support very lo-res files so if you want a bigger copy of any, please cpontact the Communications Officer, details on our 'Contact Us' page.
Steve Henson would like to draw your attention to the fact that there are now 16 tickets left for the England v Wales game on 28th February but only 4 left for England v Ireland on 12th March.
