Norwich Under 15 12 Woodbridge 48

Norwich Under 15 12 Woodbridge 48

Norwich faced a stern test today with a visit from Woodbridge for the first time of meeting bar a brief encounter at the Diss Festival.

They arrived with a large squad of well drilled players who made the most of Norwich’s under par tackling after last weeks tackle fest and burst through the middle of a scrappy defence before spreading the ball wide to good effect.

Norwich were let off on more than one occasion when Woodbridge knocked on in the action of touching down and although the defence where able to stifle a number of attacks through some strong counter rucking and getting under the ball to hold it up, the quality of Woodbridge’s attack was too much for us.

Having said that, there were a number of notable individuals and team performances worthy of mention.
Daniel Jakaj showed some strong direct running to get the Norwich attack on the front foot.

Matthew Werner on two occasions  cleared up messy ball close to our try line to avoid some easy scores being given away.

Fraser was man of the match for the forwards and the backs. (Bit of an identity crisis there by the looks of it).

A great try was produced following a penalty to Norwich. the ball was punched into the corner and from the resulting driving maul, Charlie powered over before converting.

The second try was very pleasing for Adam who wasn’t even going to attend today. Following suffering ligament damage at the Walsham game he decided to test his leg in the second half and had a storming run cutting through a couple of missed tackles to touch down in the corner.

Thanks to Kevin Harvey who spent the whole match perched on the clubhouse roof we have the game recorded and will be able to analyse where we can improve although i think it will just confirm what we have been saying all season. Now the coaches can actually prove it.

In all it was a good contest played in good spirit. We will be sharper when we next meet.
