Last of the County U13 Festivals

The last of the U13 festivals took place last Sunday afternoon where we managed to get 2 teams playing at two different venues, and at the same time avoiding the frosty conditions . The purpose of the U13 Eastern Counties festivals was to ensure teams were playing rugby at the correct level and we avoided big scores!

The boys playing at Newmarket RFC enjoyed four fifteen minute games against Newmarket RFC, Stowmarket RFC, Bury St Edmunds RFC and West Norfolk RFC. The games were well contested and plenty of tries were scored. Jack was prolific in his scoring on Sunday using his speed and balance to avoid tackles. The whole team enjoyed the afternoon and it was clear to see that the boys were making progress in all areas of play. Keep up the hard work during training as it will show in your match performances.

Thurston RFC was the venue for the tier 1 event where we travelled to play against the toughest opposition in Eastern Counties. Cambridge RFC, Southwold RFC, Ipswich RFC and Bury St Edmunds RFC were the opposition for the afternoon and the Norwich boys did not disappoint in terms of their performance.

While the results did not go our way the performance was good and in parts was some of the best rugby they had played all season. The difference between losing and winning can be down to a small error or making one wrong decision and it’s fair to say this was exactly the difference between the Norwich boys and the other teams we played on Sunday.

A great afternoon of rugby where we had 27 boys all playing at a level that was right for each boys development. All coaches were very proud of the squad and they were great ambassadors for Norwich RFC.
Thanks to Steve for the photos and to Rob, Sarah and Matt for being our first aiders.
