Norwich 5 Holt 53

Norwich Combined side v Holt U16’s
The Sun shone our last home game before forming as a Colts side. We had a squad of 21 whilst Holt had 17.
There is genuine affection between these teams due to a shared tour at under 13 level, and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed.
Norwich picked up an injury in the warm up. So our main lineout lifter was sidelined.
Holt had all the early ball, eventually they scored out wide after about 3 minutes, No conversion. 0 – 5.
Norwich had a spell of possession, largely feeding off Holt’s mistakes. From one Norwich nearly scored through Callum Davidson, however it was held up. Norwich continued to contain a rampant Holt side for a good 15 minute spell. An intercepted pass allowed Holt’s 12 to score under the posts. Try converted 0 – 12. Holt scored 2 more tries before half time both out wide and unconverted. 0 – 22.
Half Time
Norwich started brightly in the second half with Full back turned Flanker , Tom Glover , breaking from his own half, showing strength and dexterity to slice through the Holt defence to score under the posts. Norwich missed the kick. 5 – 22.
Norwich defended well for the next 10 minutes although when they had possession they squandered it with poor handling. Finally they scored again, the kicker converting a difficult attempt. 5 – 29.
Norwich made changes and conceded 3 more tries quite quickly, all out wide. 5 – 46.
The next try goes to Holt as well, they intercepted a sloppy pass and scored under the posts. The try was converted and the game ended. 5 – 53.
So the ONS Cup remains with Holt again, we certainly wish them well in their final against Diss at next week’s Big Rugby weekend. May I also thank Holt Lead Coach, Chris Austin for his wise words at the presentations.
