Match Report

Lowestoft & Yarmouth 36 Norwich 26

09/09/2018

Lowestoft & Yarmouth 36 Norwich 26

Norwich travelled to L&Y with a solid looking side albeit with a few familar faces missing through call ups to the 1st team, injuries and dropout. Norwich were probably guilty of talking up the opposition and what they would bring to the game. The combination of this and a team that hasn't played together much caused indecision in both attack and defence for the first 20 minintes and allowed L&Y to get a solid foot hold into the game going 22-0 up.

What was extremely pleasing was how the boys responded in the second half. The decision was made to run the ball at every opportunity and move the large L&Y forwards around the park. This change in tactic resulted in four tries being scored and a losing bonus point awarded. This set of players showed what they are capable of but we will need to do it for longer stretches of the game and give our opponents less respect.

Although a loss, lots to take away from this game.

Next week we welcome Medics to Beeston Hyrne. I am sure they will offer a very different challenge to last week but I feel if we concentrate on doing our basics and playing to our game plan we will be very effective.
