Norwich U15 & U18 v Beccles

Norwich U15 & U18 v Beccles

This was the girls first home fixture at Beeston Hyrne where they hosted Beccles RFC and a couple of girls from Wymondham RFC.
The U13’s who were light on numbers did a combined training session for the first part of the afternoon before they joined up with the U15’s and U18’s in a bigger game of touch rugby.

The U15’s were up against the Beccles team who they have played before very recently. The game was 6-aside and the Norwich girls were quite dominate in all areas of play but especially in the ruck were they supported each other really well.

All six displayed their ability to pass and catch the ball in open play but also to offload the ball in contact. Well done to all of the U15 girls - Izzy, Milly, Mia, Caitlin, Lucy and Abbi who all played for Norwich. Great team spirit and what is really pleasing is the improvement that you all are making.

The U18’s game was Norwich RFC up against Beccles RFC + a couple of Wymondham RFC girls. The numbers allowed them to play 9 aside across half a pitch. After the normal warm up the U18 girls got underway. It was clear from the first 10 minutes that Norwich were going to be dominate in most areas of the game.

It was pleasing to see the girls making good tackles and supporting the ball carrier to receive the offload or to be there for the ruck clear-out.

The Norwich girls got the scorecard ticking along very quickly where Amy, Alice and Emily all got over the line. After the first 10 minutes we mixed the teams up to make them more even, so we swapped 3 players and the next 10 minutes was more competitive. While the Norwich girls remained more dominate the tackle area and ruck was much more evenly contested.

Further scores out wide came from Molly, Katie and Summer (Wymondham player) where we moved the ball through the hands and created the overlap.
A great game of rugby enjoyed by all and hopefully all teams will take forward the areas they need to work on.

Before the girls finished up for the day they all joined up to play a game of touch rugby on the full pitch. It was great to see the 3 age groups combining in a game of touch and the encouragement they were giving each other.
Thanks to all of the players and parents for attending. We would like to thank Beccles RFC and Wymondham RFC for travelling to Beeston Hyrne and we hope to see you all soon.
