Joint coaching session with North Walsham

04/12/2018

Joint coaching session with North Walsham

Norwich hosted North Walsham on a mild winters morning in a joint training session that was concluded with a short match.

Joint sessions are something I am actively pursuing with the stronger clubs in the region, not only does this bring the boys of both teams together is enables our boys to train with more experienced players - which can only be beneficial for their development.

With six boys out due to injury and illness we had around 12 players and Walsham around 20. The training was led by Walsham coaches Nick and Max, and it included various passing drills and small sided games.

The session was concluded with a training match with Norwich welcoming back former players Oscar, Jonathan and Tom to our side to boost the ranks. We played around 20 minutes of entertaining rugby in which Walsham scored 4 tries and Norwich 1 (Oscar Manners).

There was no lack of commitment from the Norwich side and I was particularly pleased with the rucking - and the boys are starting to become more positionally aware, although we still need to have a much deeper attacking line.

This concludes our fixtures for 2018 and the fact we have come so far in a few months is a testament to the boys work rate and enthusiasm. Still plenty to work on in training before the next round of the U13s cup in the new year!
