Minis Reports 1st December

So, the official start of Christmas saw us at home against Diss this week.
The children were all on great form with a full range of tries and tags being achieved everywhere.

Diss managed to put out 2 teams a while we had an entire 3rd team in reserve rotating round.

Diss side had an even mix of boys and girls all with a clear grounded understanding of the game.

The matches ended with a group game of bulldog including the Diss side getting stuck in!
Our player of the match this week was our newcomer Phillipa! She scored her first try since joining last week and has been a great addition to our side.

OUr POTM took her rightful place alongside her coaches for her picture.. Sadly our coaches struck their best glamour poses

Diss U10s installed themselves on the U9 pitches, by the time the Norwich boys arrived and had been warming up for some considerable time before we started playing.

Norwich U10s fielded two teams equally split and we played both Diss teams. The coaches agree what came from the kick off is why we as coaches enjoy the role we play in developing players.

Four absolutely fantastic games were played. To see the running, passing and tackling in such a fluid direct manner was just fabulous. All the boys played out of their skin. Two lads were only playing their second week and third week of Rugby. The newest member of the team scoring two tries! It should be said he has some speed!

I would be reluctant to pick out any player from the games as all of them played so well but I think it was very pleasing to see the more experienced players marshalling the new boys in to line and organising the game plan. Awesome stuff and Crusaders this weekend!

Norwich started the brighter side with some good tackling but in the first half especially were slow at the rucks and support play. Several times Norwich were turned over when in good attacking positions and gave some penalty’s away with some lazy tackles and hands in at the rucks.

Both Stans showed good turn of speed and agility to score, the second game Norwich put together several passes making the space for Henry to cross the line. Credit to both Charlie and Oliver, who both gave 100% and implement the things that we have been working on in training. Special mention to Max in his fist game making some crucial tackles.
As the games went on Norwich did get better and started to win and turn over the ball. More areas to work on in game management and decision making along with speed of the support play.

Well done to the whole team – Crusaders will provide another good challenge.

Thanks to John for a stirling job refereeing (and coaching) the game and Amanda for doing the hot dogs.

The Under 12s welcomed their counterparts from Diss to Beeston Hyrne on Sunday for one of the highlights of the season.
Historically, matches between the two sides have been hugely competitive through the years and this week’s fixture was no exception.

Due to the strength of Norwich numbers, we opted to have a mini tournament at first, with two Norwich teams, one from Diss and an ‘invitational’ Barbarians side.
To close the session, we enjoyed a fast moving and highly physical match where players from both teams showed the progress they have made.

Following delicious hotdogs in the Clubhouse, players and coaches were left to reflect upon a morning which celebrated the friendship and bon ami between the two sides.
