Crusaders 42 Norwich 0

Crusaders 42 Norwich 0

Norwich U14s made the short trip to Little Melton to face Crusaders in round four of the EC Cup on a very heavy pitch in blustery conditions.

With around 8 players unavailable due to injury and being away we initially had a squad of 16 making the trip. Unfortunately two more were unable to make the trip on the day so we agreed to play 14 a-side.

Like may games this season Norwich started brightly and the signs were promising for an even game - and then after 10 minutes our Achilles heel struck and a physically strong Crusaders player broke though our line to score under the posts.

This was followed by three further tries in the first half, one brilliant offload lead to one and a slightly fortunate kick that bounced perfectly for another.

Norwich fought on bravely in the second half but couldn’t force their way through and then got caught by the sucker punch of a fifth try and despite never giving up Crusaders proved too strong in the end with further late tries. Crusaders were also able to make a number of changes throughout the game but with a bare 14 boys our lads had to soldier on taking a toll on their fitness.

Once again the boys work rate and attitude was outstanding but its the odd missed tackle and lost ruck that is costing up dearly at the moment.

But we gave Crusaders a tougher game than we did earlier in the season and that will be our target when we face them again next Sunday!
