Norwich 15 Diss 55

08/12/2016

Norwich 15 Diss 55

There was a distinct feeling of déjà vu about this game. With four experienced players not available and two players in only their second game against a well-drilled and experienced Diss side the result was predictable.

Diss kindly lent us a tight head prop to enable the scrums to be contested. However with a number of boys playing in unfamiliar positions Norwich again failed to maintain their shape, although there was some improvement from the previous week.

There is no disgrace in losing to a better team and the Norwich coaches were pleased that their players never let their heads drop. However against good opposition the boys need to recognise that they must be more aggressive in defence and rather than waiting for the opposition to run at them close down their space thus making first up tackles easier and pressuring their handling skills.

Whilst the team are making good progress they still have a tendency to panic under pressure and lose control of the ball. So plenty for the coaches and players to work on.
