Welcome to the Girls Youth Rugby section

Welcome to the Girls Youth Rugby Pages 2020/21

In September 2018 our fledgling girls section, The Wildcats, was launched. We had a handful of girls in each of the U13,U15 and U18 age groups, some with experience and some who were very new to the game. Little did we know then what a successful season we were to have….

The U18 girls were determined, hard-working and passionate about playing rugby. They gave it their all at every match and successfully teamed up with the Beccles U18s to play in festivals.

Highlights included playing on the Saracens pitch at half time, putting on an exciting display for the crowd and winning all their matches in the last festival of the season.

6 of these girls were asked to train with the U18 Eastern Counties squad and two were selected for the EC matches. One girl has gone on to be selected for the Saracens U18 Centre of Excellence programme.

The U15 girls steadily grew in both numbers and confidence. They too teamed up with Beccles to play festivals, growing and learning together throughout the season. Commitment, hard work and laughter quickly became their trademark and they bonded well during our tour.

Two U15 girls were selected for the Eastern Counties squad and one of them went on to play all their matches.

The U13 girls started with 2 experienced players who proved to be the backbone of the team and a massive inspiration for newer players. The numbers quickly grew and so did the team’s work rate, determination and that uncanny knack of winning all their matches! Our youngest Wildcats became a force to be reckoned with and we look forward to seeing what they, and the other age groups can achieve this season.

We are aiming high for this season – why don’t you come along and see what it’s like to be a Norwich RFC Wildcat?

The girls train on Tuesdays at 18:30.
