We are very proud of our young players and all of our committed volunteers that coach, manage and provide first aid care when needed. We provide rugby for boys and girls between the ages of U13 – U18. This is my third season as Youth Director and I am keen that everyone develops. Our youth teams will continue to be fully inclusive providing match time for everyone and therefore giving all the opportunity to improve and develop. Our coaches are also encouraged and supported by the club to develop their skills as coaches by attending Continuous Professional Development courses.
I am keen to ensure that our players, coaches, parents, spectators and volunteers uphold the core values of rugby union, Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. These values stand our young people in good stead both on the pitch and off the rugby pitch. Our aim is for the youth section to thrive in terms of player numbers through new recruitment / retention and for them to have fun. We will continue to work with the local schools by providing support for their inter school matches and to encourage those who are keen to join Norwich RFC. Play to win but not at all costs and when we win do it with dignity and when we lose do it with grace.
Finally I will be encouraging all our teams (including parents) to get together in social events and to tour - a rugby tradition that needs to be maintained. The challenge for our current youth players is to bring along a mate from school for a free taster session.
