Tour Information: U12 Tour to Boston RFC 28-4-2017 - 1/5/2017

With 18 players along with 46 parents / siblings we all made our way to Tattershall Lakes on the Friday afternoon which was to be our base for this 3 day tour. As with all good rugby tours we decided that a dress code would be the right thing to do; however we would not make it compulsory. After much deliberation it was decided that it should be superheroes as we hoped the boys would be more likely to dress up in a Spiderman or Batman outfit! It turned out (rather worryingly) that the parents took this aspect of the tour more seriously. Luckily the photo of some of the parents does not thankfully show 2 of the coaches in their Wonderwoman (you can just make out the faces) outfit however Donald proved to us all that he did not have any shame while wearing his Robin outfit! Needless to say all parents had a great weekend and some more than others were happy to wear the outfits all weekend!
Saturday was a day of relaxing for the parents/siblings and for the boys we tried to keep them busy with some team bonding activities – laser tag and archery. Both of these activities kept them amused and gave them a break from trying to bankrupt their parents with endless requests for money to put in the amusement arcade! In the evening the parents attended a cocktail party at the Regesters’ villa (it was a caravan) before we all moved on to the park’s entertainment area. The boys continued to harass parents for money to put in the arcade; however they were all well behaved and were a credit to their parents and Norwich Rugby Club.
We woke on Sunday morning feeling rather tired but excited about playing some rugby against Boston RFC. The boys looked fantastic in the tour kits and were raring to play some rugby against a team who they had never played. We got under way after the normal warm up and it was clear from the outset that the boys seemed to be working and communicating better than normal. We hoped this was from the couple of days they had spent together. The boys scored some great tries and in the end proved to be the much stronger team. Boston came back into the game during the 2nd short match and they proved to be great hosts. After the match they had arranged a barbecue and some further fun games which our boys did with the Boston boys.
After a great morning of rugby we all headed back to Tattershall Lakes where the boys, siblings and some parents were booked into the water assault course. After they had got changed into wet suits and listened to the safety training they all got wet and had a great time in the lake.
We had a much quieter Sunday evening and on Monday morning we all packed and headed back to Norwich. A great weekend was had by all and roll on the next tour!
